How RE:SILIENT Partnered With Cignpost Diagnostics To Provide Crucial COVID-19 Testing At Devonport

Babcock International, the aerospace and defence company, is a leading provider of critical, complex engineering services. Their Devonport Royal Dockyard Facility is co-located with HM Naval Base Devonport to form the largest naval support site in Western Europe. A busy operational, training and support location, the base is home for all ships in the Royal Navy amphibious fleet, Royal Navy Sea Training and Royal Marine Commando.

Babcock recognised the unique capabilities of RE:SILIENT and Cignpost Diagnostic’s partnership, including the ability to overcome and thrive in challenging conditions and submitted an initial request to provide 100 Covid-19  tests a day at Devonport Royal Dockyard. A team was on site 48 hours after the request was made, conducting tests on workers who support critical operational projects.

Within two weeks, a full mobile lab was sited with the capacity to conduct 4,000 tests per week, delivering results within six hours. The lab has the capability to be expanded to conduct 8,000 tests per week and continues to be based at Devonport.

The ability to operate on-site testing is one of the measures in place supporting Babcock in its continued delivery of critical on-site operations during the Covid-19 pandemic, supporting all activities on the site: from the provision of all waterfront services, through the management of extensive infrastructure and plant, to the control and supply of utilities and logistics.
