Research finds half of workers expect to be tested before returning to the office
People working from home remain worried about returning to work in the office, according to new research published today. According to a survey of over 2,000 workers by Yonder on behalf of Cignpost Diagnostics, almost 60% of those working from home think social distancing measures should be in place in offices and a similar number (58%) believe that wearing a mask indoors or in confined spaces should be mandatory. Almost half (48%) want to be tested before they return to the office.
Key findings amongst all workers show that:
· Four in ten people are still working from home either full or part-time.
· A fifth (24%) of these employees believe they will be back at their workplace in the first half of 2022
· Almost half (47%) of respondents want employers to institute a home testing framework before they return to the office.
· 44% believe employers should ask workers to take a Lateral Flow test before coming into the workplace while one in four (28%) believe a PCR test should be taken.
Nick Markham, Co-Founder of Cignpost Diagnostics, said: “With the number of COVID cases remaining high, there are clearly many people still very concerned about the threat of the virus. After more than 18 months of many working from home, it is not surprising that people are incredibly cautious about returning to the office. If employers want all of their workers back in the office, the onus is on employers to demonstrate that they have taken every measure possible to create a safe environment. For some businesses, that will mean continuing to ensure social distancing while for others, it will mean a regular testing regime.
Cignpost Diagnostics has been instrumental in keeping workspaces and businesses working safely since the start of the pandemic, supporting elite sports such as Formula 1, Ryder Cup and Wimbledon, as well as over 200 TV and film productions.
