Heathrow unveils UK’s largest private COVID-19 screening site to fulfil pre-departure travel requirements

ExpressTest’s largest screening site opened at Heathrow Airport to passengers and the general public earlier this month. The 24-lane testing site will be open 8am – 8pm, 365 days a year. The ExpressTest test will cost £80 for passengers, £60 for Heathrow colleagues and £99 for the general public.

Bookings are now open for Heathrow Airport’s privately operated COVID-19 screening site powered by ExpressTest. The new drive-through site – ExpressTest’s largest – is available to passengers and the general public.

The site, which is located at the airport’s N4 car park just off the Bath Road, will initially offer ‘gold standard’ PCR tests, which could be used by departing passengers looking to satisfy international travel requirements, the general public and Heathrow colleagues.

The test will cost £80 for passengers, £60 for Heathrow colleagues and £99 for the general public. When fully launched, the site will have two of ExpressTest’s largest on-site labs, with the capacity to process over 5,000 tests daily, with results typically received the next day.

Heathrow CEO, John Holland-Kaye, said:

“We’re delighted to host this site which will help our passengers to get away safely in time for the festive season. Testing is crucial to the UK’s recovery from this pandemic and we look forward to working with ExpressTest, Government and our airlines to better understand how pre-departure testing could be used to eradicate the need to quarantine on arrival.”

ExpressTest Co-Founder, Nick Markham, said:

“We’re thrilled to be opening a screening site at Heathrow, our biggest site to date, with 24 lanes and the potential to test 5,000 customers a day. Since setting up ExpressTest, our ambition has been to provide people with the peace of mind they need to go about their daily lives, whether that’s travelling or simply visiting friends and family safely. And we’re excited to offer this to even more customers with our new site at Heathrow.”
